Day 7: Paris

Today we had breakfast at the hotel - croissant, coffee, baguette, yogurt, cheese - and then headed out for the Eiffel Tower! Despite being here twice before, I'd never gone up the tower. We went to the middle - which was perfect. Nice view, fun thing to do. Amy was keen to write a couple post cards out since there is a post office in the tower, and the post mark actually reads "La Tour Effiel."

After, we did a walk down Rue Cler, a very neighborhoody street tightly packed with lively shops - cheese, wine, chocolate, fish, delis, etc. We each had a crepe and then walked to the Paris Sewer Tour. Yep, it was...smelly, but interesting. From there, we walked along the Seine and then through the Tuileries Garden (took a breather), looked at the Louvre and then walked home - shopping, snacking, etc. along the way.

Our tour started today at 4 p.m. As expected, not exactly 'my people' though everyone seems nice enough (for the most part). We'll see how it goes! Tonight we met for quick introductions and the rules & regs. Then we rode the Metro as a group to Notre Dame and then had a dinner as a group. Our guide is smart, funny and knows his stuff!

Tomorrow we're off to Montmartre, Sacre Coeur and the Orsay Museum. We get a day pass for the museums and monuments and are free as of 3 p.m. - I haven't decided where to go with my trusty pass, but I'll likely only have time for one, two at most. I love the Rodin museum, wouldn't mind a quick stop into the Pompidou again and then...well, there are loads of new places I ought to go. Alas. We'll see...

Touristy shots for today! Enjoy :)
