Friday in Pee'yay!

I arrived in Pittsburgh last night, met Chandra for a drink/snacks and then drove "up home" and visited Gayle in her new house before heading to Chez Kellie & Mark in McKean, about 1/2 hour from where I grew up.

Late last night and today was spent hanging out with my pal Kellie, known to many of your as my one-armed friend. We go way back - 5th grade actually - and always pick up where we left off like old friends do. She got her new ride delivered hours before I arrived, an Acura SUV thingy...so we tooled around in her new rockstar-mobile all day. Rather then offering a narrative of the day, Kellie had some banner quotes, which I'll share with you here to add color to the kinda gal she is...some funny, some more reverent - just like her. I've added some context to further understanding...

"Hey, my teeth are beautiful...except for the ones that fall out."
Said to her husband when he told her she should get all of her teeth replaced; apparently, she explained, in the accident where she lost her arm, most of the upper teeth on her right side cracked above the gumline, and slowly, each one cracks, exposes the nerve, and then falls out...she kinda likes it because she can't eat well and loses 10 pounds or so when this happens. She jokes that she's hoping to lose another tooth soon so as to knock off a few more lbs...

"In my dreams, I always have two arms...and then I wake up disappointed."
Said to me as we shopped at Target (a little drunk) after a wine-soaked dinner, in response to my question of "Do you even remember having 2 arms?" - her intial response was, "No, it's really a foreign concept to me..." and then she added the above. Whoa...

"Erie has three Starbucks. One in the mall. One outside of the mall. And one across from the subsidized housing full of poor people who can't afford coffee."
No context necessary.

"I can put anything between my legs and make it work."
Said in response to me suggested she get a little container of wet-wipes for her new car, which came in a tube-like container with a pop top that lets you pull them out one at a time (think: babywipes) when I said, "Hey, you can put this between your legs and easily pull them out!"...note that the one-armed girl uses her legs to hold things and teeth (the above mentioned beautiful ones) to grab things a lot!

Friday in PA: Photos

Some shots of the day - note Kellie's new car shows the area behind the vehicle on a little video screen anytimes she puts the car in reverse. It also shows what song is playing on XM radio...the rest are self-explanatory, save for the 'dead deer' - we arrived home after a wind storm to Kellie stating "Uh-oh, we're two deer down..." After heading inside, we had a drink at her incredibly-stocked bar..."I'm guessing I've got about $3000 worth of liquor here..." And you name it, it was there! Oh, and we had a nice bottle of wine at dinner...
