i have an east coast soul
last night i saw bruce springsteen in an acoustic show. not being terribly familiar with his music, and really, not even being the biggest fan (i mean, i've got a few of his tunes i really like...), this show was stunning. he has an amazing voice, and had a very cool presence overall.
what i found most interesting is how much listening to the Boss, this blue-collar kinda guy who sings about America in the way that he does, is that i felt incredibly nostalgic toward where i grew up, the people who surrounded me then and my life in general as a kid/teen. there's just something so east coast about him - though he wasn't singing about steel mills or anything like that, i just felt so incredibly at home in an odd way listening to him. it was a great show...i had a much more moving experience than i'd have ever expected.

I don't know if you'll even see this, but if you don't mind saying, where in the heck did you grow up? I spent 7 years of my life in the northern panhandle of West Virginia (where there are steel mills everywhere), and oddly, I was born in a little town east of the Cascades.
