(we once were...) The Steff Girls, with Dad

Our dad was in town for a couple days and we all gathered at Kate & Jason's place last night for dinner and had a great time together! Question is...was it the company, or rather the filet mignon and Trophy cupcakes that made us all so happy? Both, I suspect.

New Pornographers

Stolen photo, forgot camera. We had a blast at this show!! We were right up front again, which I love about Jill, she just decides to be up front and get there somehow! Neko was fun to see too, sorry for no photo of her. She had on a 1982 Kiss "Lick it Up" T-shirt, which I coveted. Met nice people in the crowd, and saw a cool guy we met at the Wilco show a few weeks ago, with his wife, who was super nice too. Great fun!

Sunday Dinner from the Ballard Farmer's Market

Mediterranean mussels from the shellfish dude, cooked up in nice butter, white wine, garlic and shallots - with a few local squashes and chantrelles in the broth. Followed by pan-fried figs and muenster cheese with some hazelnuts... :)

A Different View...Wilco :: Portland

I rarely have seen the same band two nights in a row in different cities, but I have to say the Wilco experience over the past two nights was quite varied. In a nutshell:

Seattle: Up against the stage, with a strange mix of people - a pack of teenagers with one parent overseeing them, coupled with a few 50'ish dudes. A small amount of people stood in the front, while everyone on the lawn sat...the set was cool but not gangbusters.

Portland: Everyone it seemed was 30's & 40's, and we opted to sit on the lawn tonight (the show was at the Edgefield) and just chill....well, that didn't work out because in Portland, *everyone* stood for the whole show, all the way to the concessions in the back. I did see one pregnant lady sit for a few songs...that was it. The set was amazing and varied, and the engagement of the crowd was just way cooler. We wished we could've reversed our "seats" for the two nights and been up front in Portland...ah well. That said, both shows were a great time!
